About

The name Last Night of Winter comes from my favorite time of year. I love that liminal time between winter and spring. Blooms and sprouts are just starting to appear but it’s cold and there is still a chance of snow. The date when winter ends depends on the culture and the climate. If you go by the spring equinox, that date moves slightly over time. I like how it is fluid in that way.

The name Last Night of Winter evokes a story in my imagination. I love mythology, folklore, and fairy tales. This is reflected in soap names and other creations. When researching the labeling laws in the US, I found that it could be misleading to use ingredients in the name of your products, especially if those ingredients are not in a high percentage. So, I combined my interests and came up with some fun names.

Some other things that I hold in high regard are love of learning, the environment, and my urban micro farm. I love gardening, caring for my animals, and making things from scratch. It started with cooking. Then I was making salves and lotions. Before I knew it, I was making soap! I love all the different aspects of soap making from the chemistry and math to the design and art of it.

I have sensitive skin and I am an environmentalist, so the ingredients matter to me. Our skin is our bodies largest organ after all. Consequently, Last Night of Winter sources high quality, organic, non GMO, and fair trade certified ingredients. Some ingredients are homegrown. Homegrown ingredients are grown organically with non-GMO and organic seeds. All soaps are vegetarian and a large portion are vegan. Last Night of Winter uses sustainable ingredients only (no palm oil). All soap varieties are formulated for sensitive skin. For those with sensitive noses, there are many unscented and lightly scented bars to choose from.

Thanks for reading. I hope you love them!
